Digging Deeside

Digging Deeside is a community social gardening project in Flintshire which meets every Tuesday 10am until 2pm. Everyone is welcome to join us.

Digging Deeside is a gardening project running in Flintshire, North Wales. We are powered by volunteers who want to learn new skills and enjoy being outside in the fresh air with other like minded people. All tools, equipment and free lunch is provided, all we ask for is a £1.00 contribution.

We have our own community plot at Mill Lane Allotments (CH5 4HF) where we grow lots of vegetables and herbs from seed, while encouraging wildlife, insects and bees.  Volunteers will also have the opportunity to help maintain the Community Garden which is next to our allotment plot.  We also maintain the local planters on Shotton High Street on behalf of Flintshire County Council.  This is a beautiful area of green space, and will encourage more local people to join our community social gardening project and use the area during the day.  Through the winter months November to February, the group teams up with national charity Home Farm Trust (HFT) and helps to maintain their outdoor spaces around their Flintshire building Hwb Cyfle.  This also provides an opportunity for us to deliver more craft and workshop sessions out of season.

Sometimes joining a new group can be a little daunting, so we would welcome you to give us a call and have a chat about what we do at Digging Deeside with our project facilitator Sarah.  She will be more than happy to tell you more about the project and what the group have done together over the years.  Simply give Sarah a call on 07759 753 473 to have a chat.

We already have a group of volunteers who are dedicated to the group, if you would like to join us please email info@rainbowbiz.org.uk
